Change Management

Change Management

Logistics moves assets. Change management moves people.

The most technically perfect relocation can still fail if the people experiencing it are unprepared, anxious, or resistant. Change management is the discipline of making sure your people are informed, engaged, and ready — so that the human side of your relocation supports the operational side, rather than undermining it.

Transition Consultants delivers structured relocation change management programmes for organisations of all sizes, across all sectors. We manage the communications, engagement activities, and support structures that ensure your people know what to expect, feel heard throughout the process, and arrive at your new site ready to work.

How we deliver change management

We offer three delivery models:

Fully in person: Our consultants are on site throughout the change programme — running information sessions, facilitating packing demonstrations, and providing direct support to managers and staff.

100% online: For organisations with distributed teams, remote workforces, or interstate staff, we deliver the complete programme digitally — including virtual information sessions, online packing guides, digital communications calendars, and remote support channels.

Hybrid: A combination of in-person and online delivery, tailored to your organisational structure. This is the most common approach for organisations with a mix of on-site and hybrid working arrangements.

What the programme includes

Stakeholder mapping

We map your stakeholder groups — identifying who is affected by the relocation, how significantly, and what their specific communication needs are. Different stakeholder groups require different messages, different timing, and different levels of engagement.

People database

We build and manage a people database for the relocation project — tracking communication preferences, team allocations, special requirements, and move day assignments for every person in scope.

Communication calendar

We develop and manage a structured communication calendar for the entire project, covering announcement communications, regular updates, pre-move information sessions, packing communications, and post-move follow-up.

Information sessions

We design and facilitate information sessions at key project milestones — introducing the move, explaining the timeline, answering questions, and managing concerns.

Site inductions

We develop and deliver site induction programmes for your new location — familiarising your people with the new floor plan, emergency procedures, parking, amenities, and operational differences.

Packing demonstrations

We run practical packing demonstrations to ensure every staff member understands what is expected of them on pack-down day: what goes in which box, how IT equipment is handled, and what personal items need to be taken home.

Post-move support

The week after a relocation is often the most stressful for staff. We provide a structured post-move support programme — communicating known issues, tracking resolution, and signposting staff to the right contacts for outstanding matters.

Why change management matters

Organisations that invest in change management report faster operational recovery, lower staff anxiety, and significantly fewer move-day disruptions. Those that skip it consistently report the same problems: staff who don’t know where they’re sitting, missing equipment they were responsible for packing, and a first week characterised by chaos rather than confidence.

We have delivered change management programmes for organisations ranging from 50 to 700 staff, including a 700-person programme restructured in response to COVID restrictions — a strong example of our ability to adapt delivery to real-world constraints without compromising outcomes.

Frequently asked questions

When should change management start in a relocation project?

Change management should begin as early as possible — ideally during the planning phase. Early engagement allows us to build awareness, address concerns proactively, and ensure that staff feel involved in the process rather than having change imposed upon them.

Is change management only relevant for large organisations?

Not at all. Every organisation, regardless of size, benefits from a structured approach to managing the human side of a relocation. Even small teams experience disruption and uncertainty during a move, and a tailored change programme helps ensure a smooth transition for everyone.

How do you measure the success of a change management programme?

We measure success through staff readiness on Day 1, the speed at which teams return to full productivity, and the feedback we receive from staff and leadership throughout the process. Our goal is for your people to feel confident, informed, and supported at every stage.
